Kerryon Johnson Injury Update Still Leaves Him With Poor Fantasy Outlook for Week 16

It has been another lost season for the Detroit Lions, with many of their struggles stemming from injuries to key playmakers. One of the more devastating injuries to the team was the knee injury to running back Kerryon Johnson, which landed him on IR. He's eligible to return to game action this week, and after staying on track with healthy practices, that return is a real possibility.

We have known that a Week 16 return against the Denver Broncos was a possibility for Johnson, but with nothing to play for, the notion of him returning became more and more unlikely.

However, not only is the door open for Johnson, but the Lions are hinting that quarterback Matthew Stafford could also return to the field, hoping to lead the Lions to an apparently highly-coveted fourth win.

Should Johnson return this week, he gets a below-average matchup with the Broncos, who have surrendered the 10th-fewest PPR fantasy points to running backs over the past five weeks.

If Johnson returns to the field in Week 16, it's tough to imagine he receives a full workload after such a long absence. Because of this, it is probably best to avoid him for fantasy this week, especially since you have already made it this far without him.

With Bo Scarbrough also banged up, no Detroit RB cracks the top 36 in our Week 16 PPR fantasy football rankings.
