The Las Vegas Raiders made an unexpected move in free agency this offseason by signing running back Kenyan Drake to a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million. He is slated to be a complementary back to starter Josh Jacobs and has some upside in fantasy football as a receiving threat.

Kenyan Drake Fantasy Outlook

Drake is coming off one of the best seasons of his career as he racked up 1,092 yards from scrimmage on 264 touches with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020. He set a career-high in rushing yards (955) as well as total touchdowns (10) while splitting carries alongside Chase Edmonds.

However, don't expect Drake to cut into Jacobs' carries in any way. Jacobs has posted at least 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first two NFL seasons and is a workhorse in this backfield. Drake's production in this offense will simply come from his impact in the passing attack.

It's notable to point out that the sixth-year pro has two seasons under his belt in which he totaled at least 50 receptions. Drake brings along a 73.5% catch percentage and there is a clear opening on this team. Jacobs has only had 404 receiving yards through his first two seasons with the Raiders.

Drake will need to improve on his route-running abilities from last season, but there may not be a better opportunity for him to do it than in Las Vegas. Head coach Jon Gruden has already stated that Drake could be used as a "jack-of-all-trades" in this offense.

The Raiders ball-carrier has a current average draft position of No. 104 overall and No. 39 amongst RBs in PPR leagues, according to FantasyPros. Drake enters the fall as a running back handcuff with potential FLEX upside if he can become a reliable target for quarterback Derek Carr.

Drake checks in as the RB43 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
