Week 8 featured problems on offense once again for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Philadelphia Eagles nearly tripled Pittsburgh's score on Sunday as the Steelers only managed to score one touchdown.
After the game, quarterback Kenny Pickett sounded off on his unit's struggles.
Pickett didn't hold back his crictism, saying Pittsburgh doesn't "study enough as a group." That wasn't all, as he added, "It's insane to keep doing the same things over and over and expect something different."
These are some strong comments for Pickett. It's clear he's not happy with some of his teammates' preparation, but the young gunslinger also doesn't appear thrilled with the play-calling given his plea for variety.
Pittsburgh's offensive issues, which have plagued them all year, were on full display Sunday. No receiver topped more than 57 yards, Jaylen Warren (50 yards) outpaced starter Najee Harris (32) on the ground, and Pickett threw three interceptions while also losing a fumble.
Tensions have been building in Pittsburgh, and this loss could be the boiling point. The Steelers are now just 2-6 on the year, making the playoffs a pipe dream barring a significant turnaround.
The upcoming trade deadline could bring about serious personnel changes as this front office starts to eye the 2023 campaign with 2022 going downward in a hurry.
