Los Angeles Rams tight end Kendall Blanton played a minimal role during the season as the No. 2 behind starter Tyler Higbee. However, Blanton was thrust into the spotlight after Higbee went down with an injury in the NFC Championship Game, and the latter's status is still up in the air ahead of the Super Bowl.

With Blanton's role unclear heading into Sunday, FanDuel Sportsbook is giving him long-shot odds to win Super Bowl LVI MVP.

Kendall Blanton Super Bowl MVP Odds

Blanton owns +10000 odds to win MVP on Sunday. That puts him in a tie with other dark horses like Van Jefferson, Sony Michel and Evan McPherson.

Blanton's regular season was mostly mundane playing behind Higbee. He recorded just 4 receptions for 37 yards across 11 games. In two spot starts, he turned a total of 4 targets into 2 catches for 29 yards.

The TE's involvement in the offense has picked up in the playoffs, though. He caught both of his targets in the Divisional Round, recording 18 yards and 1 TD. Then, when Higbee was sidelined in the NFCCG, Higbee went on to record 5 catches for 57 yards -- eclipsing his season-long total in one game.

Even if Blanton does draw the start, he's a long shot at best. Higbee only averaged 4.1 receptions and 37.3 yards per game during the regular season, which is far from enough to be a serious MVP candidate.

With wide receivers like Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr., plus running backs like Cam Akers and Sony Michel, the TEs are on the bottom of the food chain in this offense.

Those premier options at other positions could draw more attention from the Cincinnati Bengals' offense, so that may open up an opportunity for Blanton. Still, he would need a historic performance to become the first TE in history to win Super Bowl MVP.
