The consistency that wide receiver Keenan Allen brings to the table is what separates him from the pack in fantasy football. The Los Angeles Chargers' No. 1 pass-catcher has racked up at least 97 receptions, 950 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in each of the last four seasons.
Allen finished as the No. 14 WR in PPR scoring last season despite missing two games due to injury. His high-volume role on one of the up-and-coming offenses in the NFL makes him a player that could breakout and finish amongst the top five wide receivers for the 2021 season.
Keenan Allen Fantasy Outlook
The veteran playmaker has an average draft position of No. 27 overall and No. 9 among WRs, according to FantasyPros.
Allen's production stems from the sheer volume of targets he sees on a weekly basis. In fact, the 29-year-old has grown his target share in each of the last three seasons. He upped his 8.5 targets per game mark in 2018 to 9.3 in 2019 before seeing a whopping 10.5 in 2020.
Allen has quickly become second-year quarterback Justin Herbert's most trusted target, especially down near the end zone. He led all Chargers receivers with 16 red zone targets last year. Overall, Herbert targeted Allen 10-plus times in a game 10 different times during the 2020 season.
There isn't any reason to believe Allen shouldn't be in for another massive season. The only other proven WR on the roster in Mike Williams, who is seen as more of a deep threat than a go-to target. Opposing defenses may be focused on shutting Allen down, but he has proven that he can easily overcome that obstacle.
Fantasy managers should feel confident taking Allen as their WR1 knowing he has the skillset to outperform his already high draft price and be a league-winning type of player.
Allen checks in as the WR8 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
