January football brings an added layer of intrigue that we don't often see in the regular season. For teams that host games in outdoor stadiums, the weather can have a massive impact on how NFL playoff games shake out.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, meaning they will be outdoors and forced to deal with the elements.

Here's how Kansas City Weather could impact this matchup.

Chiefs vs Browns Kansas City Weather

The forecast in Kansas City is fairly mild for this afternoon's game. As of 10 a.m., temperatures are low, at 28 degrees, but AccuWeather's hourly forecast is calling for that to climb above freezing quickly, and to hit 39 degrees by 3 p.m. EST when kickoff rolls around. Things are expected to stay that warm through the duration of the game.

There's no rain or snow in the forecast either, with only intermittent clouds passing through.

The big impact, however, comes in the form of heavy winds. By kickoff, wind gusts are expected to reach the 20-30 MPH range, only dying down to gusts of 10-15 MPH by the end of the game.

This could hamper the Chiefs' downfield passing attack, while the ground-and-pound Browns' offense wouldn't be effected nearly as much.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for today have the Chiefs as 9.5-point favorites to advance to the AFC Championship.
