Josh Gordon Fantasy Outlook Hurt in First Game With Seahawks by Brutal Matchup Against 49ers

Everyone had high hopes for Josh Gordon coming into the season with the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, that did not pan out. Gordon never had much consistency in the Patriots offense, especially from a fantasy perspective. After suffering an injury in Week 6 against the New York Giants, Gordon was placed on IR by the Patriots and then subsequently cut a few weeks later.
After being claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks, he will make his Seahawks debut on "Monday Night Football," but faces a tough matchup with the 49ers.

The 49ers defense has been terrific this season, allowing just 138.1 yards through the air per game (best in NFL). They have 10 interceptions while allowing just seven touchdowns through the air in nine games. The Niners also give up just 27.3 PPR points to opposing wide receiver groups, which is the fourth-best mark in the NFL.
With Gordon likely to be eased into the offense, there may not be a worse matchup for a debut, given his limited snaps.
Through six games with the Patriots, Gordon totaled 20 catches for 287 yards and one touchdown. He seemed to get lost in the mix on the field in New England, which is a big change from the wide receiver formerly known as "Flash."

Still, he could fit in well with Seattle, especially after the team lost talented pass-catching tight end Will Dissly. He should eventually work his way into a secondary receiving role in Seattle, but his upside is limited in his debut tonight.
