Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Timeline Gets Major Update

As the NFL offseason continues, San Francisco 49ers fans are wondering just how much longer Jimmy Garoppolo will remain on the roster. The organization hoped that the veteran quarterback would've been moved months ago, but a combination of a shoulder injury and his expensive contract has left him in the Bay Area.
With most training camps opening up in two weeks, NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed a major update regarding the Garoppolo trade timeline on Monday. Pelissero is reporting the "expectation within the league" is that the 30-year-old will be traded by July's end.
Team execs are just starting to come back from vacation. Most training camps open in two weeks, and the expectation within the league continues to be that Garoppolo is traded — somewhere — by the end of the month.

Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Rumors
Pelissero also had a positive update regarding Garoppolo's shoulder injury from the QB's agent, Don Yee. According to Yee, everything is "progressing well and on schedule," and he and his client feel "optimistic" about the 2022 campaign.
Garoppolo has dealt with injuries throughout his career, missing 12 games over the last two seasons. Any interested team wants to be sure that he can last throughout the upcoming season, especially if they're going to absorb a large chunk of his near $27 million salary cap hit.
Nevertheless, there's a lot to like about healthy Garoppolo. He's taken the 49ers to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl since 2019 and can be close to a 4,000-yard, 25-touchdown passer if he can stay healthy for an entire 17-game schedule.
The Carolina Panthers were one team rumored to have been interested in his services, but that's put to bed now that they acquired Baker Mayfield last week. The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the top suitors too, whether that's through a trade or free agency if he's released.
At the end of the day, all signs point to the Garoppolo era ending for the 49ers. It's been a relatively tame situation, but only time will tell if things get uglier should Jimmy G remain on the roster into training camp.
