Jerry Jones Targeting Surprise Name in 2021 NFL Draft

When healthy, the Dallas Cowboys have one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFC. Now that Dak Prescott is expected to be at full strength by kickoff, that unit could be a real problem in 2021. Of course, Dallas' defense is a problem too, and not the good kind.
While most pundits expect Dallas to try to balance that out in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jerry Jones is reportedly interested in going all-in on the offense. Jones is targeting Florida's superstar tight end Kyle Pitts, per a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Kyle Pitts Cowboys
We’re hearing this thing about Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys — and the GM — being infatuated with Kyle Pitts... He’s going to have to trade up to get Kyle Pitts. He spent $40 million a year on Dak Prescott, so why not go get Kyle Pitts?
- Chris Mortensen
Mortensen also accurately points out that Pitts is almost certainly not going to be there at No. 10. If Jones is actually locked in on landing the Gators' TE, Dallas will have to trade up, probably to No. 4. The trade wouldn't be cheap.
While that may be a bit of a ridiculous allocation of resources considering the Cowboys were the NFL's fifth-worst scoring defense in 2020, adding Pitts could take this offense to a whole new level.
Pitts would be paired with Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott. On paper at least, that's the most talented skill-position group in the NFC, and one of the most star-studded lineups we've seen in quite some time.
Sacrificing the resources it would require to land Pitts would essentially ensure that Dallas couldn't stop a nosebleed on defense. But with Pitts, Dallas' offense would be equally as unstoppable.
In the winnable NFC East, that's not such a bad spot to be in.
