The Jacksonville Jaguars will look to improve next season under a new head coach in Urban Meyer and a new quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. Well, it looks like there will be at least one position battle in training camp as Josh Lambo and Aldrick Rosas are set to compete for the starting kicker job.

Lambo has been with the Jaguars for the last four seasons, but a lingering hip injury caused him to only play in four games last year. He constantly left the team scrambling and Jacksonville finished the 2020 season hitting 18 of its 25 field goal attempts, which ranked as the third lowest rate in the NFL.

The team decided to make a move this offseason by re-signing veteran kicker Aldrick Rosas in March. Rosas made 8 of his 11 attempts for the Jaguars in 2020 and made the Pro Bowl back in 2018 with the New York Giants.

The early edge has to go to Lambo as he is the most accurate kicker in franchise history, but this one may go down to the wire. No matter what happens, the starting kicker for the Jaguars will have some streaming potential in fantasy next season given the team's likely advancements on offense.

The head-to-head battle could go on for a long time, especially with the NFL’s new schedule of roster cutdown dates. In fact, it could go until the final preseason game. Jacksonville remains a long shot to make the playoffs next season with odds set at +330, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
