Jaguars GM Gives Important Update on Potential Evan Engram Contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the best surprises of the 2022-23 NFL season. Just one year removed from winning three games (two years from 1 win), the Jaguars broke a four-year playoff drought by winning the AFC South. Not only that, but they won they advanced to the Divisional Round.
The team was full of surprises, including a resurgent career season from tight end Evan Engram. Engram joined the Jaguars one a one-year deal, and put up career highs in receptions (73) and yards (766) after five underwhelming years with the New York Giants.
On Tuesday, Jaguars GM Trent Baalke provided an important update on the front office's plans to bring their dynamic tight end back for another contract.
Baalke says he talked to #Jaguars TE Evan Engram yesterday. Says there is clear mutual interest in the two sides working something out; it just has to happen.

Baalke claims there is "clear mutual interest" between both sides in "working something out." He even mentioned the situation as "it just has to happen."
There's no doubt the Jaguars want Engram back. He finished third on the team in targets, receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns. Clearly a favorite option for the blossoming quarterback Trevor Lawrence, keeping around the young gunslinger's reliable weapons should be of utmost importance.
