Despite a dominant start to his rookie campaign, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was not named AFC Rookie of the Month again in October. He previously won the award for September and instead, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris took home the honors.
There's no other explanation than viewing this as some serious disrespect for one of the best wide receivers in football.
AFC Rookie of the Month
Harris put together a splendid month of football as he totaled 356 rushing yards, 124 receiving yards and 4 total touchdowns across four games. However, it should be noted his role in the offense. Harris put up a ridiculous 105 touches in October.
Chase, on the other hand, is limited in touch count thanks to his role as wide receiver but can put up stats with the best of them. The leading Rookie of the Year favorite tallied just 22 touches (21 receptions, 1 rush attempt) across four games in October and put up 489 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.
The phenomenal Bengals wideout is all over the NFL's receiving leaderboard (not just rookies) and ranks top five with 786 yards (3rd) and 7 TDs (T-4th).
As a result, Chase remains a heavy favorite to win Rookie of the Year according to his -160 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. Harris retains just +1100 odds to win the award.
