Is Donovan Mitchell Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Updates and News for Cavaliers vs. Thunder on Jan. 29)

The Cleveland Cavaliers are back in action Sunday night as they face the Los Angeles Clippers at 7 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Donovan Mitchell, who's missed two straight games due to a groin issue.
Donovan Mitchell Injury Update (1/29/2023)
Mitchell has a chance to return tonight. He was present at the team's shootaround on Sunday and wearing a wine practice jersey, which is usually adorned by starters. He's officially listed as questionable on the injury report.

Mitchell has been sidelined for five of Cleveland's last six contests while he nurses this groin issue. The All-Star guard was able to suit up on Jan. 24 and looked great with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, but then was held out on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27.
The Cavs have certainly missed Mitchell whenever he's missed time this season, going just 4-6 overall. He currently leads the team with 28.3 points per game, plus 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds as well.
Sunday appears to be Mitchell's best chance yet at returning to the Cavs' lineup. Keep a close eye on his availability ahead of tip-off.
Donovan Mitchell Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today
Mitchell isn't currently listed with any props available, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, with his status TBD. Meanwhile, Cleveland is projected as a 10-point favorite over LA. The Cavaliers have enough weapons without Mitchell to cover, and his return would make them even stronger. The Clippers are also slated to be without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in this one, so taking Cleveland to cover (-110) makes a ton of sense.
If Mitchell plays, he's worth considering in FanDuel DFS tonight given the barren slate. He was fantastic in his most recent appearance, recording a whopping 60.6 FanDuel fantasy points while doing it all for Cleveland. It's certainly a gamble to play Mitchell in lineups coming off of an injury, but at just $8,200, he's worth taking that risk.
