The Washington Wizards are back in action Wednesday night as they face the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET. One player to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Wizards guard Bradley Beal, who's listed as questionable due to his nagging hamstring injury.

Fortunately for Washington, the latest news on Beal is extremely promising.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Beal is expected to return to the lineup for the Wizards tonight. He's been nursing a low-grade left hamstring strain recently, missing each of the team's last five games.

Head coach Wes Unseld Jr. will be thrilled to have his lead guard back on the floor. Health has been a major struggle for the three-time All-Star, as he's already missed 20 of Washington's 44 games during the 2022-23 campaign. Unseld's squad has posted a dismal 8-12 record in contests with Beal inactive.

When healthy, Beal has been his usual self, recording a team-high 22.9 points per game to go along with 5.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per night. His return should provide a huge boost to a squad right in the thick of the play-in tournament chase.

Despite having Beal in tow, FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds list the Wizards as 5-point road underdogs against the Knicks tonight.

It's hard to predict how Beal will look in his first game back or if he'll play his full complement of minutes. What we do know is he's regained his form beyond the arc after a poor showing in 2021-22, shooting 34.0% from 3-point range this season compared to 30.0% last year. Coming off of a hamstring strain, Beal may be even more likely to hang out around the perimeter in this one.

New York's defense is happy to give up threes, allowing the third-most attempts (38.0) and sixth-most makes (13.0) per game to opponents. Even if Beal's minutes are capped tonight, he doesn't need long to connect on two triples. The +102 odds on Beal going over 1.5 three-pointers are mighty attractive in this matchup.
