Indians Get Good News on Franmil Reyes Injury Update
The Cleveland Indians are looking to get healthier and keep their winning ways going as they sit 4.5 games back in the AL Central division with a record of 37-28. The team recently received some good news as it looks like slugger Franmil Reyes could go out on a rehab assignment sooner than expected.
Franmil Reyes could head out on a rehab assignment as soon as next week as he continues to recover from an internal oblique strain suffered in late May. He could require a fairly lengthy rehab assignment given the severity of his injury, but Reyes appears to be trending in the right direction.
The 25-year-old power hitter had been off to a productive start to the season as he ranks second on the team in home runs (11) and third in on-base percentage (.316). Overall, he has also totaled 21 runs scored, 29 RBI and 1 stolen base in 40 games played his year.
After being given a 5-7 week timeline of return, Reyes remains ahead of schedule and could rejoin Cleveland in what ends up as a four-week absence. His return could jumpstart an up-and-down Indians' offense that is averaging 4.25 runs per game this season (No. 17 in MLB).
Expect more updates on Reyes' recovery to be released within the next few weeks. For now, the Indians will look to keep winning ball games and currently have odds set at +4000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
