Ian Rapoport Reveals Prediction on Kenny Golladay Franchise Tag

Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay is one of the most intriguing upcoming free agent wideouts this offseason. Despite trading franchise QB Matthew Stafford and looking headed for a rebuild, the Lions are still weighing Golladay's future with the team.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport offered his prediction on how Golladay's free agency will shake out.

Rapoport, who's one of the most tapped-in sources around the league, says he'd be "surprised" if Golladay didn't receive the tag at this point. He also goes on to say that Detroit wants to keep the wideout, and using the tag allows the two sides to explore a long-term deal in the future.
This new information goes against the recent rumors that Detroit could tag Golladay in order to explore a trade. While that's still a possibility, it seems like the Lions are more interested in keeping their wideout and working towards a possible extension rather than tagging him in hopes of getting an asset back.
Detroit's receiving corps is sure to undergo massive changes this offseason with several free agents at the position, but it sounds as though the Lions would like to keep Golladay and possibly pair him with their upcoming top pick.
