Hunter Henry Injury Update in Training Camp Already Clouding Fantasy Outlook for 2021

Heading into the season, New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry's fantasy value was already clouded by his clear competition for reps with fellow TE Jonnu Smith.

Henry's injury history is also troubling and it appears to have reappeared early on in Patriots training camp. On Sunday, Henry suffered a potential shoulder injury after an on-field collision.

The former Los Angeles Charger will undergo an MRI on Monday to reveal the extent of this potential injury. With that in mind, Henry's fantasy value is something to keep an eye on ahead of camp.

Heading into a new season on a new team, the Patriots have made it clear that Smith is their preferred option at tight end. New England will bolster a two-TE set on offense, but Smith is poised to be the more favorable target. After all, the Pats signed smith to a four-year deal while offering Henry only three years in free agency this past offseason.

If Henry misses any amount of significant time, there's no question that helps solidify Smith as the No. 1 tight end on New England's roster.

Henry checks in at TE16 according to FantasyPros preseason average draft position (ADP) rankings. With so much uncertainty, it may be a good idea to steer clear of drafting him and instead see how his performance shakes out over the course of the year.
