The Carolina Panthers have reportedly been shopping wide receiver Robbie Anderson on the trade market for quite some time now. A sideline spat that sent the former Temple standout to the locker room early in Week 6 was the last straw, however, as Anderson was immediately shipped to the Arizona Cardinals the following day.

Carolina Panthers Trade

NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that the Panthers received a sixth-round pick in 2024 and a seventh-round pick in 2025 in exchange for Anderson. The Cardinals will also be responsible for the $690K left on his 2022 salary, though he is also under contract for next year at a cap hit of $21.7 million.

This is a move that makes sense for both sides. For Carolina, it rids the team of a player that was no longer buying in or living up to his contract. Anderson has averaged only 31.5 yards per game over the last two years and has been more of a risky deep threat rather than a true No. 2 receiver behind D.J. Moore.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals only gave up a pair of late-round draft picks to acquire a player that could potentially fill the hole left by Marquise Brown. Brown was serving as Arizona's top receiver before suffering a significant foot injury during Week 6's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, although the Cardinals are getting DeAndre Hopkins back in Week 7 from his six-game suspension.

It'll be interesting to see how Anderson meshes with Kyler Murray and how Carolina uses its new draft picks. No matter what, it's a fresh start for everyone involved. The Panthers will try to shake off a 1-5 start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, where Carolina is listed as a 10.5-point home underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
