One of the most storied franchises in NFL history, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made the playoffs eight different times since 2010. But when longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finally called it quits last year, the franchise understood a postseason appearance could no longer be taken for granted.

It's been no easy task, but the Steelers head into the final week of the regular season at 8-8 with a serious chance to make the playoffs on the back of rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett. Here's how they can get in:

Pittsburgh Steelers Playoff Scenario

The Steelers will need a lot of help, but first they must secure a win over their AFC North rival Cleveland Browns on Sunday. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds show Pittsburgh as a 2.5-point home favorite, so that's encouraging.

The Steelers will also be watching a pair of games: the New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins. Pittsburgh needs both the Patriots and Dolphins to lose in order to sneak into the AFC's No. 7 seed.

New England is currently a 7.5-point road underdog and Miami is favored by just 1.5 points at home, so it's not too difficult to imagine a scenario where everything goes the Steelers' way and they end up back in the playoffs for a third straight year.
