With the Detroit Lions and franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford mutually agreeing to part ways, it's open trade season. Ten-plus teams are already inquiring about Stafford's services, and it's likely that the San Francisco 49ers are one of them.

With often-injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo only suiting up in six games for the 6-10 49ers in 2020, the team should be actively considering its future with the quarterback given his $26.2 million cap hit in 2021. While a trade may be unlikely, the team can cut Garoppolo and only face $2.8 million in dead cap.

Stafford would be an upgrade, and it'd give the 49ers a quarterback who can get them back to Super Bowl contention. With that in mind, here's a trade package San Francisco could offer.

San Francisco 49ers Trade Package for Matthew Stafford

49ers Receive: Matthew Stafford
Lions Receive: 2021 No. 12 pick, 49ers' 2022 first-round pick

This trade package is pretty simple, but it should be enough to get a deal done.

From San Francisco's perspective, they get their next starting quarterback by exchanging this year's first-round pick (No. 12) and next year's first-rounder. With a roster that could compete for a Super Bowl in 2021 and beyond with Stafford at the helm, the team can afford to give up a couple of first-round picks.

San Fran has weapons under contract at every skill position, meaning they don't need to fret about reloading through the draft. Giving playmakers like Raheem Mostert, Bradon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle a top QB like Stafford is an idea worth salivating over.

From Detroit's perspective, they get two first-rounders to jump-start their rebuild in addition to the No. 7 pick they own this year. Owning two picks in the top 12 gives the Lions the opportunity to bring in top young talent as they begin a new era. Not only will Stafford's replacement be available in that range, but a wide receiver to pair with him should be there, too.

In this package, Detroit is given the freedom to build its team from the ground up, rather than being forced to take back Jimmy G, which should be enough to seal a deal.
