Saquon Barkley is the New York Giants' clear-cut starting running back when healthy. However, that's been a concern in recent seasons, placing an emphasis on the RB depth behind him.

The Giants' list of inactives for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons has revealed a shakeup to the running back pecking order.

Assumed backup Devotnae Booker is a healthy scratch ahead of the Falcons game. It's a notable move since Booker was signed this offseason to be the RB2 behind Barkley. Instead, rookie Gary Brightwell will handle duties behind Barkley on Sunday.

Booker had seen the most use this season in relief of Barkley, totaling 6 rushes and 2 receptions across the first two games. Brightwell, a sixth-round pick, had featured more on special teams to this point.

It's unclear what caused Brightwell to surpass the sixth-year vet, but it gives the Arizona product a golden opportunity to cement himself as RB2 behind Barkley.

The Giants are 2.5-point favorites against the Falcons, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
