It's been an odd season for the New York Giants as we head into Week 13 of the 2020 campaign. Despite an 0-5 start, a historically poor NFC East division's struggles have allowed the Giants to climb into first place in the division. They'd even get a home-field advantage playoff game as the standings sit today, with just a 4-7 record.

If that weren't enough of a shock, New York also has a chance to make NFL history as the first team in the league's existence to start 1-7, yet actually make the postseason.

Despite losing their star talent in Saquon Barkley to a season-ending ACL tear in Week 1, the Giants have managed to rally back into a three-game winning streak from that 1-7 start to take sole possession of the NFC East first-place spot thanks to a sweep over the 4-7 Washington football team

While it's still a tight race between a host of bad teams, the Giants do also lead in the odds to win the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, boasting a narrow +210 edge ahead of Washington (+220) and the Philadelphia Eagles (+230).

Unfortunately for New York, the G-Men have suffered a setback from Week 12 with the loss of quarterback Daniel Jones thanks an apparent hamstring injury. Though, his return timeline has yet to be seen, he is widely expected to miss at least one week of play.

With five games left to play, a lot of things can happen in this year's wacky NFC East. However, the Giants still have an encouraging shot to make NFL history with a postseason berth within grasp.
