With the MLB regular season winding down, the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants were dealt a terrible blow of injury news on Tuesday. Veteran Brandon Belt suffered a fractured thumb and the team has placed him on the 10-day injured list.

With this latest injury designation, it looks like Belt will likely miss the remainder of the year and potentially any postseason run that San Francisco puts together.

Brandon Belt Injury Update

Belt, like many of his other Giants teammates, has enjoyed a career-high surge of power at the plate this season. The 11-year veteran bashed 29 home runs through 97 games, more than 10 home runs above his previous career mark.

The longtime Giant has added a slash line of .274/.378/.597 and 59 RBIs to this home run output. All in all, this is a crushing blow to San Francisco's offense, which ranks second in the entire league with 237 home runs.

San Francisco sits atop the league with 103 wins on the year and will likely earn the National League's top seed, looking towards a postseason run that sees them with +700 odds to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
