Gervon Dexter Sr. Scouting Report
Gervon Dexter Sr. was productive in his final campaign at Florida. The promising DL finished the campaign with 55 tackles (4.0 for a loss), two sacks, an interception and a broken-up pass.
Standing 6-foot-6 and weight 310 pounds, Dexter has the perfect frame for any NFL team looking to clog holes on the defensive line. His future coaches will love his handle control as he rarely finds himself in penalty trouble. He also has terrific good lateral movement, helping him to slow down opposing rushers.
Having said that, Dexter doesn't have the pass rush skills that many coaches covet. And as solid as he is, he never posted any eye-popping numbers in college. His motor isn't anything special either and sometimes loses track of the ball in crowded areas.
Gervon Dexter Sr. NFL Draft Prediction
Despite any concerns scouts may have, all signs point to Gervon Dexter Sr. being a Day 2 selection next week. None of the highlighted mock drafts have him going beyond the No. 84 pick.
Although they signed Dalvin Tomlinson to a four-year, $57 million deal this offseason, the Cleveland Browns have room for Dexter. Their defensive tackle depth isn't the deepest and with how quickly injuries can pile up in the NFL, it'd make sense to add a reliable backup like Dexter.
Tomlinson's presence also means that Dexter wouldn't be thrust into a role that he isn't ready for. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has a great mind and can work on Dexter throughout the campaign to ensure that he's ready for a bigger role in 2024.
Prediction: Cleveland Browns (Round 3, 74th overall)
