San Francisco 49ers fans were rejoiced to hear that tight end George Kittle is making his return to the field on Sunday after missing four weeks due to a calf injury. However, his fantasy outlook is not as rock-solid as many believed given he is going to be on a snap count against the Arizona Cardinals.

Don't get it twisted, easing Kittle back into action is likely a smart move by the 49ers' coaching staff. The team is fighting to stay alive in the playoff race and cannot afford to lose him again. It certainly makes starting him in fantasy football a bit worrisome, though.

One of the main benefits to rostering Kittle through the first four weeks was that he played in 97% of the team's offensive snaps. That is obviously not going to be the case on Sunday. The 28-year-old is also averaging a career-low 11.9 yards per reception and has yet to see a single red zone target all year.

Add in the fact that the Cardinals have been stellar at defending opposing TEs and Kittle becomes a borderline sit candidate in Week 9. Arizona is giving up the fewest PPR fantasy points to the position and has yet to allow a TE to score a touchdown this entire season.

When it comes down to it, starting Kittle comes with a good amount of risk and deciding to stream another option with a more favorable matchup may not be a bad idea. The former Iowa standout checks in at TE7 in The Duel's Week 9 fantasy football rankings.
