The Kansas City Chiefs' defense has been bolstered by its defensive line over the last few seasons and it is important that those players stay healthy to start they year.
It looks like that may not be the case for defensive end Frank Clark as he left Tuesday's practice while dealing with an injury scare.
Clark pulled up after a one-on-one rep with what seems to be a left hamstring issue. That is not good news given the veteran lineman was already dealing with a hamstring strain last week and ended up missing some time because of it. Clark did not play in the team's first preseason matchup, either.
It's not hard to see that Clark headed to the locker room with a noticeable limp. However, it is a good sign to see him walking off under his own power after trainers originally had to help him to the sideline. More updates should be coming out about Clark's status as the week rolls on.
The seventh-year pro has spent the last two seasons in Kansas City racking up over 66 tackles and 14.0 sacks during that span. Clark is coming off a 2020 season in which he ranked second on the team with 6.0 sacks and posted 29 tackles (8 for loss), 2 pass breakups and 15 quarterback hits.
The Chiefs will hope to have Clark back sooner rather than later, but their main priority should be making sure he is ready to go by Week 1 of the regular season. Kansas City remains the favorite to win the Super Bowl this season with odds set at +500, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
