If you didn't get the chance to improve to your fantasy baseball roster earlier this week, there are still some pretty good players remaining on the waiver wire that could give your fantasy team what it needs to win Week 8 of the season.

Here are five MLB players that are worth a mid-week waiver wire pickup in fantasy baseball.

1. Ryan McMahon, 1B/2B/3B, Colorado Rockies

Ryan McMahon has played sparingly so far this year, but based on the way he's been swinging the bat lately, it's only a matter of time before he hits his way into an everyday role in Colorado. The 24-year-old infielder owns an impressive 1.105 OPS with two homers and four RBI over his last 21 at-bats. McMahon is available in 83 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and could be a potential boom pick for anyone in need of a quality infield bat.

2. Jurickson Profar, 1B/2B/3B/SS, Oakland Athletics

Jurickson Profar is still hitting below the Mendoza Line for the year, but his recent run of form could be a sign that he's finally turning things around. The 26-year-old utility man is batting .304 with two homers and six RBI in his last 23 at-bats. Profar is still available in 56 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and, thanks to his positional versatility, should serve as a solid injury replacement for Andrelton Simmons owners. For the time being, anyway.

3. Hunter Pence, OF, Texas Rangers

If you haven't already, it's time to start believing in Hunter Pence again. The 36-year-old outfielder has seen a late-career resurgence with the Texas Rangers this season, sporting a 1.007 OPS with nine homers and 30 RBI in 101 at-bats this season. Pence is available 57 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and should be a prime target for anyone in need of a quality outfielder and George Springer owners, especially.

4. Tyler Mahle, SP, Cincinnati Reds

Tyler Mahle has had a pretty solid 2019 campaign for the Cincinnati Reds this year, but he's really been on top of his game over the past couple of weeks. Over his last three starts, the 24-year-old righty owns a 1-1 record with an excellent 2.45 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. Mahle is available in 83 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and should be readily available for anyone in need of an extra start this week.

5. Sean Newcomb, SP/RP, Atlanta Braves

Sean Newcomb struggled in Atlanta's rotation at the beginning of the year, but he may have found new life as a late-inning relief arm. The 25-year-old lefty has been unhittable in his seven appearances out of the bullpen this month, sporting a perfect 0.00 ERA in 8.1 innings with eight strikeouts, three holds and his first career save. Newcomb has plenty of value in leagues that count holds, but he could be in line for save opportunities if he keeps performing well. Newcomb is available in 68 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues.
