FanDuel Sportsbook announced a groundbreaking expansion to its partnership with Sportradar AG this Tuesday, which will make FanDuel the first U.S.-operated sportsbook to offer live broadcasts of sporting events alongside betting odds available on its website and mobile platform.
While you might be envisioning a complementary livestream of Super Bowl LIV alongside a sports wagering widget through FanDuel, the sportsbook is mostly limiting this new content feature to broadcasts of sports like tennis and German Bundesliga soccer.
However, that's not to say this updated feature won't be expanded to more premier sporting events in the future. But at the moment, more top-tier leagues with major broadcasting rights based here in the U.S., such as the NBA, MLB or NFL, are much more complicated spaces to navigate deals that could bring their live content off major networks and onto a mobile app.
It's also important to note that FanDuel is not receiving exclusive broadcasting rights to this aforementioned content, but it has certainly gotten a good start in this space by unveiling this new feature first.
Live sporting events and sports gambling have long been paired in brick-and-mortar casinos in the U.S., but FanDuel is bringing this pairing into the 21st century with this new expansion.
