With the new PGA Tour season in full swing, we head to our first real well-known event this week with PGA Tour pros going to Phoenix for the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

Let's take a look at some golfers to consider when putting together your fantasy team this week.

Waste Management Phoenix Fantasy

Justin Thomas:
Justin Thomas has gotten off to a hot start this season, placing in the top-20 in all five of his starts so far. He has even grabbed a top-five finish in three of his last four starts and a top-three finish in two of his last three starts. When it comes to TPC Scottsdale, Thomas is no stranger to success here. While he has never won on this course, he's never placed worse than T-17 in any of his last four appearances, and that includes a No. 3 finish in both 2019 and 2020. Thomas ranks No. 17 on tour in Greens in Regulation (GIR) and No. 1 in birdie average so far this season, both of which have helped carry him to a No. 15 ranking in Strokes Gained (SG): Tee-To-Green.

Xander Schauffele:
Xander Schauffele comes in with a similar makeup to Thomas, but not quite as impressive, which is why you're getting him at a better price. Nevertheless, he's still in a position to break through this weekend. He almost pulled off the win in 2021 here, ultimately finishing second. He's never finished worse than No. 17 here among this elite field. Schauffele has yet to miss a cut this season, and has finished top-12 in two of his last three starts.

Rickie Fowler:
No, Rickie Fowler isn't playing the golf we all know he's capable of, but the price you can get him at is pretty good for a past winner of this event. And it's not like he wont it forever ago, he won in 2019. In fact, from 2016 to 2019, Fowler was stellar at this event, grabbing three top-four finishes, including that win and never finishing worse than 11th. Fowler has six top-15 finishes at this event in his career. While Fowler has struggled of late coming into this event, he did grab a nice T-3 finish at The CJ @ Summit. If there's a course and event that he's shown can get him out of his funk, this one is it.
