The new PGA Tour season is set to begin this week with the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss. The first event comes on the heels of a great Ryder Cup that saw the Americans come away with a convincing victory.
Let's take a look at some golfers to consider when putting together your fantasy team this week.
Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy
Sungjae Im played in this event last season and came in 28th, but the year prior to that he finished second. He has more success on this course with just those two finishes than many of his counterparts. Im ranked No. 16 on tour in Strokes Gained (SG): Off-The-Tee last season and that should carry over well to this course, as it has in the past.
Like Im, Bradley doesn't have much experience here, but in his lone career start on this course, he came away with a 4th-place finish. Bradley ranked No. 6 in SG: Tee-To-Green on tour last season and actually finished off the campaign with three consecutive made cuts in fields much stronger that he will face this week. Averaging over 300 yards a drive and ranking No. 12 in Greens in Regulation (GIR) and No. 4 in SG: Approach the Green should all benefit Bradley on this lengthy course.
Harold Varner III:
Harold Varner III's best finish at this event is 39th in 2020, but he finished off last season very strong. Varner made five out of six cuts and placed in the top-15 in four of those five events. He's coming into this event in great form. He also has the distance off the tee to shorten this course, averaging over 315 yards per drive. He also ranked No. 26 in SG: Approach The Green. As long as he can clean up his accuracy off the tee, he should be in position to make some noise in a weaker field.
