It hasn't been the strongest of starts for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley, but unlocking him will be key to Atlanta's offense finding a groove. Ridley had a great chance to do so against the New York Jets' secondary in Week 5.

However, the Falcons have received some terrible news regarding their top wideout.

Calvin Ridley News

Ridley has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Jets due to a personal matter. No team would want to be without their top pass-catcher, but it's clear something major has come up to force Ridley out of this contest.

This is a huge blow to an Atlanta offense that is still trying to establish an identity. Ridley has recorded 27 catches (on 42 targets) for 255 yards and 1 TD, but he was expected to be a much bigger contributor this year. The wideout has struggled with drops and seemingly gone out of his way to avoid contact so far, which has hurt his overall impact.

Top pick Kyle Pitts will likely shoulder the load for a unit also without wide receiver Russell Gage in Week 5. And RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson could have a huge day as arguably this team's top weapon on Sunday.

The Falcons are 3-point favorites ahead of their clash in London, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
