Expectations are sky-high for Joe Burrow as he takes over control of the Cincinnati Bengals offense in 2020.
The AFC North is a notoriously tough division, but Burrow and the Bengals may be in for a surprisingly strong year if Pro Football Focus (PFF)'s projections play out.
The numbers are close, but PFF like Burrow to throw for both more yards and touchdowns than Baker Mayfield.
They appear to be projecting Mayfield to either take another step back in 2020, or for new head coach Kevin Stefanski's offense to be too run-heavy to let Baker post strong numbers. Both that yardage and touchdown total would represent career-lows.
On the other side, 3,734 yards and 23 touchdowns from Burrow would both be the fifth most ever thrown by a rookie quarterback.
These projections aren't far off what the odds on FanDuel Sportsbook point to, either. The over/under for his passing yard total is set at 3,800.5, while his touchdown total sits at 22.5.
