Expectations are sky-high for Clyde Edwards-Helaire's rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs, especially now that Damien Williams has opted out for the 2020 season.
In fact, "sky-high" might even be underselling the levels this hype has reached following this incredibly bold take from ESPN expert Louis Riddick.
Edwards-Helaire is indisputably the top rookie for fantasy football in 2020, and he's certainly one of the top players. On The Duel, for example, we have him ranked eighth at the running back position.
But to take him as the first-overall pick? That's as bold as it gets — especially when this year has a pretty clear-cut top pick in Christian McCaffrey.
For some context on the player Edwards-Helaire needs to beat out to be the top pick, McCaffrey ranked second in the NFL with 1,494 rushing yards while also ranking second with 116 receptions as a do-it-all workhorse in the Carolina Panthers backfield in 2019.
The way things are shaping up, if you want Edwards-Helaire on your fantasy football team in 2020 you're certainly going to need to use a first-round pick to make sure it happens.
