The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a short week. That's already a tough matchup with a normal amount of rest, but the quick turnaround to play on Thursday Night Football won't help guys who could use an extra day or two to get right.
Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert falls into that category, as he just popped up on the COVID list. The latest on Goedert isn't great news.
Dallas Goedert COVID
NFL insider Ian Rapoport said it is "unlikely" that the TE suits up against Tampa Bay given the time crunch. Goedert would have to produce two negative tests 24 hours apart and have no symptoms to be cleared for Thursday night.
This would be a big loss for Philadelphia's offense. Goedert has emerged as a main weapon in the passing game, recording 15 receptions for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns over the first five games. His ability to make big plays (14.4 yards per reception) certainly is an asset for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Goedert missing this Week 6 clash would mean a bigger role for Zach Ertz. He's recorded 14 receptions for 160 yards and 1 TD so far.
The Eagles are 7-point underdogs ahead of Thursday night, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
