Playing himself into a growing role, Miami Dolphins safety Brandon Jones was enjoying the best start of his brief three-year NFL career. Jones was on pace for career-high marks in tackles, sacks and passes defended before suffering a tough injury in Week 7.
The Dolphins promptly placed the former third-round draft pick on the IR on Tuesday, but the situation took another frustrating turn the next day.
Brandon Jones Injury Update
Head coach Mike McDaniel revealed that Jones tore his ACL and will officially miss the remainder of the season.
"In situations like this, I feel absolutely terrible for a guy that was playing at a high level. The good news about him in particular is when things like this happen to people like him, they tend to come out finding a way to be better -- somehow, some way," said McDaniel.
The Dolphins certainly hope that's the case, but they'll need to wait until 2023 to find out. For now, they're focused on beating the Detroit Lions in Week 8. Miami is listed as a 3.5-point road favorite in Detroit on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
