Tua Tagovailoa was unable to suit up for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday after suffering a thumb injury earlier in the week. Miami started Ryan Fitzpatrick in his place after previously demoting the veteran, and Fitzpatrick helped guide the Dolphins to a 20-3 win over the New York Jets in Week 12.

While many are eager to hear about Tagovailoa's status, the Dolphins are letting out little details about his injury.

Head coach Brian Flores remains committed to his rookie QB, but he isn't making any definitive statements about Tagovailoa's health.

You keep asking, I'll keep answering the same way. Again, he's dealing with something with the hand. We'll take it day-to-day. He's a tough kid. He wants to be out there.

Obviously, "dealing with something with the hand" isn't the most encouraging prognosis, but perhaps Flores is just annoyed with questions about his QB's health and is being short on details on purpose. Mike Garafolo suggested it could be a multi-game injury.

Tagovailoa has had no problems adjusting to starting in the NFL, winning his first three NFL starts. He has thrown 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his four games as the Dolphins' starter.

While filling in for Tua in Week 12, Fitzpatrick put up 257 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTS against the lowly Jets. He is averaging 238.6 yards, 1.5 TDs and 1 INT per game this season.

Hopefully more will be known about Tagovailoa's status in the lead up to the Dolphins' Week 13 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals
