The dominance of the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense last season was a major reason the team got out to a blazing 11-0 start to the season. However, injuries plagued them down the stretch and losing linebacker Devin Bush in Week 5 was brutal. It seems like he will be 100% healthy by training camp, though.
Devin Bush Injury
Bush tore his ACL during a 38-7 win over the Cleveland Browns last season and has been working hard ever since to get back on the field. He has been a force over the middle for the Steelers delivering hard hits and breaking up passes on seemingly every snap of the football.
The 22-year-old playmaker has racked up 135 tackles (9.0 for loss) as well as 2.0 sacks over the course of two NFL seasons (21 games played). Bush has also posted 7 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble during that span.
The Steelers are cautiously keeping Bush out for team OTAs, but he should be ready to go in late July. The young linebacker is making sure that he is both mentally and physically prepared for his return.
"Physically, you know you can get over this. You can recover from it. You can get out of it. It's the mental part of getting back out there and going full speed without thinking about it."- Devin Bush via Associated Press
If Pittsburgh's defense can get back to shutting down opposing offenses, this is a team to watch out for next season. The Steelers currently have odds set at +170 to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
