The New Orleans Saints will finally put their disappointing 2022 season to bed in Week 18. With the team already eliminated from playoff contention, fans are wondering if New Orleans will shake things up personnel-wise for the regular-season finale.
Unfortunately, head coach Dennis Allen shot down the chances of a change at quarterback on Sunday.
Allen told reporters on Monday that veteran Andy Dalton will remain the team's starter in Week 18. Dalton took over QB1 duties in Week 4 following Jameis Winston's early back injury and hasn't looked back since.
Allen's disinterest in a quarterback change is unfortunate. Dalton hasn't been anything noteworthy over the past 13 games, and this would be the perfect time to experiment with Winston at the helm again in a stress-free environment. Instead, Allen's opting to keep the status quo in a meaningless game, ending the year on the same mediocre note that's played throughout the season.
Week 18 presents the Saints a chance to finish one game under .500. They'll face the Carolina Panthers at the Caesars Superdome. New Orleans is a 3.5-point favorite in that contest, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
