It's been a lost season for Deebo Samuel. The San Francisco 49ers' second-year wideout looked poised for a true breakout 2020 campaign, but injuries have robbed him of that. Deebo didn't make his debut until Week 4, but quickly went down in Week 7. Though he returned in Week 12, Deebo suffered a hamstring injury in Week 14 that head coach Kyle Shanahan said "didn't look good."

Given his injury history and the fact that the San Francisco 49ers are out playoff contention, we might not see Samuel again this year. That's obviously a crushing blow for his fantasy football managers, but any extended absence for Deebo would lead to a huge uptick in value for Brandon Aiyuk.

Deebo Samuel Fantasy Outlook

It's a shame Deebo went down, as he was starting to play some really good football. In his two appearances before getting hurt, the 24-year-old was turning 11.0 targets into 8.5 catches for 103.0 receiving yards per game. That's WR1-level volume and production.

Even if he's surprisingly active for Week 15, the potential to re-aggravate the hamstring injury would make him a really risky play. He's probably not someone you want to be counting on in Week 15, barring a truly game-changing mid-week update.

Brandon Aiyuk Fantasy Outlook

Deebo's absence should mean plenty of targets for Aiyuk. The rookie has been tremendous recently, averaging 11.2 targets for 7.2 receptions and 99.0 receiving yards per game through five outings since Week 7.

Three of those games have come without Samuel. In those three, the Arizona State product is averaging 13.3 targets for 8.3 catches and 95.0 receiving yards. He has real league-winning, WR1 upside down the stretch.

Aiyuk should settle in as a high-end WR2 in a juicy matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15, assuming Samuel sits.
