Davante Adams disappointed fantasy football owners by finishing just 22nd among wide receivers in PPR fantasy points in the 2019 season. That was largely due to the time he missed with an injury, however, and he finished sixth at the position in fantasy points per game.

Heading into the 2020 season in a very similar situation as he was in last year, Adams has the kind of upside that could even lead to his dethroning Michael Thomas as the WR1.

To start with, Adams' per-game numbers don'y really do him justice. Returning from injury in Week 9, he played a season-low 42 snaps. If we just look at his 11 other games, his per-game average jumps to 18.3 fantasy points — a mark that would have been tied for WR3.

That production was backed up by elite volume, ranking second at the position with an average of 10.6 targets per game.

Adams' 2019 numbers aren't anything we haven't seen from him before, either. In 2018 he averaged 11.3 targets per game and finished first at the position with 22.0 fantasy points per game.

The Packers have brought in no real competition for targets this offseason either. Fans in Green Bay may not like that Aaron Rodgers didn't get any help in the draft, but Davante Adams fantasy owners have to love that he's all but guaranteed to average double-digit targets again in 2020 now.

Michael Thomas is still the safer bet in the first round of fantasy drafts, but with legitimate WR1 upside, Adams checks in as the WR2 in our 2020 fantasy football rankings.
