Davante Adams Contract: Extension for Packers Star Could Set NFL Record

While the Green Bay Packers have struggled all offseason (and the past few years) to keep their superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers happy, there's one player on the team there shouldn't be an issue with. According to reports, the Packers are prioritizing and expecting to negotiate a "massive" contract extension with their stud wideout Davante Adams.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler first reported the news on SportsCenter Thursday morning, explaining that the contract extension should make Adams the highest-paid wide receiver across the entire NFL.

Currently, DeAandre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals owns the biggest WR contract in the league at $27.3 million per year. No figures have been floated regarding a number for how much Adams will earn, but most speculation is to surpass Hopkins' figure.

After his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance in 2020, the Packers want to at least keep one of the best wide receivers in the league around for years to come. This could be seen as a move to secure receiving threats around Rodgers or the youngster Jordan Love.

Either way, Adams is a bonafide superstar in this league. He led the entire NFL with 18 touchdowns and 98.1 receiving yards per game last year. In total, Adams caught 115 balls for 1,374 yards on a 77.2 catch percentage. He'll turn 29 years old during the 2021 NFL season. The one question is, will his production take a big step back if his superstar quarterback Rodgers doesn't return to Green Bay. Most would say so, making this an interesting move by the Green Bay front office.
