Darnell Savage Jr. Stats
Darnell Savage Jr. is a bonafide playmaker. The Maryland product racked up 52 total tackles and four interceptions during his senior season. While those numbers certainly caught scout's eyes, his performance at the NFL Combine is the reason he's shooting up draft boards.
Savage ran a 4.36 40-yard dash, which was second fastest among safeties, and he posted a 39.5 inch vertical jump. That athleticism also makes Savage valuable in the return game. He only returned two punts in his career at Maryland, but he took one of those to the house.
Simply put, Savage is an explosive athlete who has big-time upside at the NFL level.

Darnell Savage Jr. Draft Prediction
- New England Patriots (No. 32), San Francisco 49ers (No. 36)
Savage could provide some much-needed depth for the New England Patriots. He's versatile enough to play both corner and safety, and versatility is one of the things Bill Belichick values most in a prospect. Both of the McCourty twins are getting up there in age and adding a dynamic playmaker like Savage could help New England next season as well as down the road.
The Maryland product could also be a nice fit with the San Francisco 49ers, who desperately need help in the secondary. The 49ers were linked to Earl Thomas, who ultimately chose to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, and Savage could be a great consolation prize. His athleticism and playmaking could give this 49ers' secondary a much-needed boost in 2019 and beyond.
