This week the Tour Championship will provide us with the winner of the FedEx Cup. With a unique scoring format that has players starting out ahead of one another based on tiers, it will be a little to tougher to grab a victory from the back of the field than it normally would.
Just so everyone is on the same page, the players will start with the below scoring based on last week's results: Dustin Johnson (-10), Jon Rahm (-8), Justin Thomas (-7), Webb Simpson (-6), Collin Morikawa (-5), 6th-10th (-4), 11th-15th (-3), 16th-20th (-2), 21st-25th (-1), 26th-30th (E).
3. Tony Finau (+4200)
Tony Finau has been playing really well under the radar lately. He has finished in the top-8 in his last four starts, including a fifth-place finish at the BMW Championship last week. He ranks in the top-10 on tour in Strokes Gained (SG): Tee-To-Green and SG: Total. His No. 13 ranking in driving distance should also help him here at this long course. Lastly, his last three years at this event he has finished 7th, T-15 and T-7, respectively.
2. Daniel Berger (+2700)
Daniel Berger has finished in the top-25 in his last four starts, which includes a solo second and a T-3. While his T-25 last week will have him set back a bit heading into the Tour Championship, he still presents a solid threat. He is top-10 on tour in SG: Tee-To-Green and SG: Total. He is also top-5 in both scoring and birdie average. He has also finished in the top-15 in his last three starts at this event.
1. Scottie Scheffler (+9000)
In his last five starts, Scottie Scheffler has five top-25 finishes, three top-15 finishes and two T-4 finishes. He comes in ranked No. 15 in average driving distance, which like Finau should work to his benefit at East Lake. He is also No. 9 in SG: Off-The-Tee. Scheffler is starting from a ways back, but he has been playing well enough to make a significant climb at the Tour Championship.
