Danny Amendola has built a successful career for himself as one of the league's better slot receivers. Though he's not the player he was in his prime, Amendola proved he can still contribute as a high-level role player, coming off back-to-back 600-yard seasons with the Detroit Lions.
Now a free agent, his history of stellar playoff performances makes him an intriguing target for any WR-needy contender.
Here are the three best destinations for the two-time Super Bowl champ.
Danny Amendola Free Agency
3. Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns' lack of depth at WR was evident once Odell Beckham Jr. tore his ACL. Though guys like Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones showed flashes, the Browns could've really use another veteran like Amendola. He's sure-handed, reliable and can still be a real weapon in the short passing game. That should make him a nice fit with Baker Mayfield, who is at his best when getting the ball out quickly. At the very least, Amendola would add depth to a WR group that needs a bit more.
2. Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans have lost quite a bit of talent at receiver this offseason. Big-name studs like Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis bolted in free agency, and role players like Adam Humphries went out the door as well. They did bring in Josh Reynolds, but he's not going to be able to make up for those losses by himself. Amendola would likely earn a WR3 role were he to end up in Tennessee, and that could be appealing to the 12-year vet.
1. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers skill-position group is absolutely loaded, featuring the likes of George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk. But the team is surprisingly thin at the WR3 spot, especially after losing Kendrick Bourne. Amendola is an excellent candidate to fill that role. Kyle Shanahan's offense is predicated on making plays after the catch, and that's something the Texas Tech product can still do at a high level. He'd be a really nice safety blanket for Jimmy Garoppolo, and his playoff pedigree is a plus for a team with legit Super Bowl aspirations.
