Despite signing with the Braves over a week ago, Dallas Keuchel is yet to throw a pitch in the MLB this season. While Atlanta certainly doesn't want to rush him back to the mound, after being away from baseball since last October, both Braves fans and Keuchel fantasy owners are eager to see the stud lefty return.

Keuchel appeared in two All-Star Games and won a Cy Young Award in his last four seasons with the Astros. He had 638 strikeouts, six complete games and led the Astros to the playoffs twice in that span.

Regardless of when he starts pitching again, both Keuchel fantasy owners and the Braves expect him to be someone they can rely on at the top of their rotation.

When Will Keuchel Be Activated?

The earliest possible return date for Keuchel would be some time during the Braves' series against the Nationals, which starts Friday. However, there's recently been some pessimism around this potential start date, as Keuchel did not look as sharp as many had hoped in his most recent tune-up start.

Keuchel took the mound for Atlanta's Double-A affiliate, the Mississippi Braves, on Saturday. He allowed three earned runs and gave up 11 hits in 7 innings. On the bright side, Keuchel threw 106 pitches, and didn't report any discontent after the game.

Keuchel is currently listed as the probable pitcher for Friday's game against the Nationals, according Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball.

For the Braves, Keuchel's first start can't come soon enough. The team recently sent starter Kevin Gausman to the IL because of a foot injury. They will insert Keuchel into the front of the rotation as soon as he is ready.

For Keuchel's fantasy owners, congratulations, the wait is almost over. He should be inserted into lineups as soon as he is officially scheduled to make his first start of the 2019 MLB season.
