The "Patriot Way" is a term coined to describe the impressive level of winning the New England Patriots have accomplished since head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady got together all the way back in 2000. They've dominated the NFL for close to two decades – something that can be hated, but also needs to be respected.

With the Patriots off to a league-best 8-0 record, this "way" has also shown through on other teams in the NFL this season. Two former Patriots quarterbacks are now starting in other cities – Jimmy Garoppolo on the 7-0 San Francisco 49ers and Jacoby Brissett on the 5-2 Indianapolis Colts – and the former Pats' backups, combined with Brady, have a 20-2 record through Week 8.

Brady just keeps dominating the win column, and he's doing so at 42 years of age. The undefeated Patriots were favored by the most points through eight weeks in NFL history and the QB is on pace to pass for his most yards since 2017. But it's the Patriots defense that has been the real difference maker, outscoring entire position groups in fantasy football so far this season.

Out in San Francisco, Garoppolo has also led his team to a perfect record, sitting atop the NFC at 7-0. Much like the Patriots, the 49ers are highlighted by their defense, but the passing offense under head coach Kyle Shanahan could break out with the addition of veteran receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Brissett took over a Colts team that had to deal with Andrew Luck's sudden retirement, and all he's done is lead them to three straight wins and a spot atop the AFC South. Playing behind a talented offensive line, Brissett has thrown 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions as Indianapolis sits at 5-2 on this season.

We've seen successful coaches and coordinators go from New England to another team and struggle, but it seems to be a different story for backup quarterbacks. Learning how to play the game in New England and taking it to their new team and their new starting roles has proven to be a nearly unstoppable force, at least in the 2019 NFL season.
