Despite leading the NL Central division by 1.0 game and owning the third-best overall record (39-30) in the National League, the Chicago Cubs still clearly have their doubters. Some of this doubt comes in the form of rumors swirling around veteran closer Craig Kimbrel and the Cubs potentially dealing him at the deadline.

What team making a serious postseason push would trade away the MLB's top closer in 2021 with 19 saves? That's exactly how Cubs manager David Ross responded to these recent rumors.

Chicago Cubs News

Ross responded with a pretty epic quote after learning about one media member suggesting Chicago looks for a trade package for Kimbrel ahead of the July trade deadline. “Let’s just hope that person’s not working in the front office."

Point in case, Ross is clearly not a fan of these rumors surrounding his seven-time All-Star closer. Rightfully so, as Kimbrel leads all of baseball with his 19 saves along with a stifling 0.64 ERA. And yes, it doesn't make sense for a contender (a serious contender) to trade away their most valuable bullpen arm.

The Cubs are also seeing some doubters in the sports betting world. Currently, Chicago owns just 8th-best odds to win the NL Championship (+2200) and 2nd-best odds to take home the NL Central crown (+250), according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
