Concerning Report Reveals New Details on Russell Wilson's Star Treatment in Denver
Friday morning, The Athletic released somewhat of a bombshell report about Russell Wilson that included details on both his departure from Seattle and his first year with the Denver Broncos.
Though it's been known that Wilson received some unusual perks in Denver, the new info was eye-opening and unprecedented.
Wilson reportedly told teammates he had an open-door policy in regards to his second-floor office, which is something usually reserved for coaches. In fact, Wilson's room being on the second floor ruffled some feathers since that space was intended for coaches and front office personnel.
All of this seemed to create a rift in the Broncos' locker room. Not only between Wilson and his teammates, but between Wilson and the coaching staff as well.
As the quarterback of the team, this is a terrible look, and honestly not too far off from things we've heard the past few years with Russ. Wilson is supposed to be the leader of this squad, he should do that in the locker room as a teammate, not an authority figure.
Sean Payton was hired to revamp this franchise's culture, and you better believe that will start with Wilson. Payton is a no-nonsense guy, and Wilson sounds like he's been up to a whole lot of that the past couple of years. Something's got to give, and considering both of their track records, I'm guessing Payton's ways come out on top.
