Christian McCaffrey's fantasy managers should be concerned after his latest injury update on Thursday.

The Carolina Panthers star running back did not practice for the second day in a row due to a quad injury, putting his status for Week 4's contest against the Arizona Cardinals in jeopardy.

Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Outlook

After missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday, McCaffrey will have one more chance to get on the practice field Friday before the final injury report comes out. If he doesn't practice on Friday, his odds of suiting up on Sunday will continue to fall.

While there's still a chance he could play this weekend, McCaffrey's managers should have a backup plan ready just in case. If McCaffrey sits, D'Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard will likely split Carolina's backfield duties, although neither is a particularly attractive fantasy option based on their uninspiring track records and limited roles this year.

We'd recommend pivoting to one of our recommended fantasy waiver wire pickups or sleepers instead. The goal should be to target some upside, which will be hard to come by with Foreman and/or Hubbard.

Hopefully McCaffrey recovers in time to play this week or only misses one game. Based on his recent injury history, however, fantasy managers need to have a contingency plan in place for their top draft pick.
