The Kansas City Chiefs ended up with unplanned cap space earlier this week following Tyreek Hill's sudden trade to the Miami Dolphins. That deal has allowed the team to pursue free agents at key positions of need, and they don't appear done adding just yet.

Chiefs Free Agency Rumors

The latest free ageny rumors link the Chiefs to one of the best players still on the market.

Stephon Gilmore Chiefs

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Saturday that Kansas City has "actively communicated" with cornerback Stephon Gilmore about a potential deal. These two sides have been rumored as a potential pairing throughout free agency, and it appears the interest is clearly there.

KC certainly needs help at cornerback after Charvarius Ward and Mike Hughes both departed earlier this offseason. Gilmore would slot right into a starting role and be able to lead a secondary that will likely see Tyrann Mathieu leave in free agency.

Gilmore is coming off of a productive 2021 campaign for the Carolina Panthers. Despite playing in only eight games, he earned his fourth straight Pro Bowl nod last season after recording 2 interceptions and 2 passes defended.

The former Super Bowl winner and two-time First Team All-Pro would fit in perfectly on a squad with championship aspirations.
